RMNLU Lucknow Organises International Seminar on Penal Law

OThe Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU) would be organising a two day international seminar to commemorate 150th anniversary of inauguration of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860 from December 14. The seminar will be inaugurated by the chief justice of UP Justice FI Rebello.

Probably no other law touches the life and liberty of people more than the penal law of a country. The theme of the international seminar would be `Relevance of Indian Penal Code in Controlling and Combating Crime in Modern Age. The IPC has been the basic criminal law of many countries with some modifications. In each of the jurisdictions where it is applicable today, its promulgation has been the result of their history. But the issues for the courts in every such country are identical. University authorities said that the seminar will provide opportunity to share their experiences.

According to the RMLNLU authorities, many distinguished scholars from India and abroad are expected to participate in the two day international seminar.

The participants from foreign jurisdictions will deliberate on the listed issues and share their experiences in enforcement of penal codes in their countries.

The Indian participants -- members of the Bench and Bar, the enforcement officers and academicians -- will also make rich and valuable contributions through their papers and deliberations in this seminar.
